Durham had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Winters Warriors on Saturday as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Joden Hoglund tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Durham's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landon Lynch, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave Lynch a new career-high. Brady Doyle was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Durham is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Winters, with the loss, they broke their 17-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-10.
