Philipsburg-Osceola was beaten by Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy 77-27 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Philipsburg-Osceola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy is ranked 105th).
Philipsburg-Osceola's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Warlow, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Warlow has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Maddy Malinich was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Philipsburg-Osceola's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philipsburg-Osceola will face off against Somerset at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy and Susquenita will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Susquenita focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
