After losing to the Norfolk Panthers the last time they met, the North Platte Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. North Platte escaped with a win on Saturday against Norfolk by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for North Platte.
Leading North Platte to victory were Macie Freeze and Clancy Brown. Freeze scored 14 points, while Brown scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Brown pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Norfolk lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maddi Fineran, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Skylar Indra, who scored eight points.
The victory got North Platte back to even at 2-2. As for Norfolk, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Platte's road trip will continue as they head out to face Grand Island at 5:15 p.m. on December 19th. Grand Island comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Norfolk, they will head out on the road to face off against Millard North on Wednesday. Millard North presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Norfolk in Nebraska (Millard North is ranked 29th, while Norfolk is ranked 233rd).
