The Northeastern Clinton Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Plattsburgh Hornets at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northeastern Clinton has 18 straight wins, Plattsburgh has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Northeastern Clinton stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 75-19 victory over Beekmantown at home. Northeastern Clinton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Plattsburgh suffered a tough 65-39 defeat at the hands of Saranac on Friday. While losing is never fun, Plattsburgh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Saranac is ranked 29th).
Northeastern Clinton pushed their record up to 18-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.6 points. As for Plattsburgh, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Northeastern Clinton took their victory against Plattsburgh in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 60-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northeastern Clinton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
