The Van Nuys Wolves will square off against the Carson Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Van Nuys walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Wolfpack 62-18 at home. Given Van Nuys' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Maywood CES is ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Carson over Hollywood in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Carson blew Hollywood out of the water with a 56-24 final score. Carson pushed the score to 44-16 by the end of the third, a deficit Hollywood had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Madison Wheeler, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.
The win was the fourth in a row for Van Nuys, bringing their record for this year to 17-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Carson, they pushed their record up to 16-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
