The Kennedy Thunderbirds will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Mira Monte Lions at 6:30 p.m. on December 11th. Kennedy will be strutting in after a victory while Mira Monte will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, it was close, but Kennedy sidestepped Central Valley Christian for a 35-33 victory. The victory was just what Kennedy needed coming off of a 50-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Kayzel Dela Cruz was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 15 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Valeria Payan, who scored 5 points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mira Monte's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They lost to Kern Valley on the road by a decisive 61-43 margin.
The losses dropped Kennedy to 2-5 and Central Valley Christian to 3-4.
Kennedy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mira Monte in their previous meeting back in December of 2016, but they still walked away with a 37-33 victory. Will Kennedy repeat their success, or does Mira Monte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
