Baseball Recap: Mira Mesa Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mira Mesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Valhalla Norsemen 4-3. For the Marauders, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Norsemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Nathaniel Widelski, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Mira Mesa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ziggy Avinion, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Mira Mesa now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Valhalla, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Mira Mesa will be taking part in a tournament against El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Valhalla, they will take on University City in a tournament on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valhalla 3.3, University City 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
