Highland Park is 0-4 against Bovina since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Highland Park Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Bovina Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Highland Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Highland Park was the victim of a rough 62-40 loss at the hands of Panhandle.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Bovina, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-32 loss to Panhandle on Tuesday. Bovina has struggled against Panhandle recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Daniel Herrera, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Miguel Lopez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Highland Park dropped their record down to 8-20 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Bovina, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Highland Park, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-27 loss to Bovina in their previous meeting back in January. Can Highland Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
