Don Lugo has gone 8-2 against Colony recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Conquistadors will host the Titans at 3:30 p.m. Don Lugo is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Don Lugo didn't have quite enough to beat Ontario and fell 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Conquistadors have lost by just one run.
Don Lugo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasim Malik, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Ishmael Fox was another, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Colony came into Tuesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Pomona on Tuesday. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Gunner Montez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angel Serna, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Litwin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Colony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Don Lugo's loss dropped their record down to 6-8-2. As for Colony, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.
Don Lugo came out on top in a nail-biter against Colony in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Conquistadors repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
