Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin). They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Sheldon Huskies on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
Chance Moore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Moore was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Dylan Wood looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Franklin got a massive performance out of Dylan Minnatee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Minnatee a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Edgar Garcia, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Franklin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheldon struck out 11 times.
The win (which was Franklin's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Sheldon, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
