Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shasta). They never let the Central Valley Falcons get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Shasta got a great performance from Landon Kidd as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Kidd a new career-high.
At the plate, Shasta let Owen Boesiger and Nolan Rudd run wild. Boesiger got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Rudd got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Boesiger has posted since back in March. Ty Jones was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Shasta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Valley only posted an OBP of .250.
Shasta now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Central Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Coincidentally, Shasta and Central Valley will both be playing Truckee the next time they take the field. The Wolves will head out to face the Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Falcons will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
