Basketball Game Preview: Saint Joseph Jesters vs. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals

Saint Joseph is 1-9 against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Saint Joseph Jesters are taking a road trip to square off against the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary is hoping to do what St. Paul couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Saint Joseph's winning streak, which now stands at seven games. Saint Joseph simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Paul 80-23. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 59-9.

Alana White was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Washington, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary took on Bishop Conaty-Loretto on Tuesday. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary took their matchup with ease, bagging a 70-25 win over Bishop Conaty-Loretto. The game marked the Cardinals' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Saint Joseph, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Saint Joseph was taken down by Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary 76-44 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Saint Joseph, Layla Navarro (who had 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
