Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pioneer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Naomi Navarro, who posted 13 points and four steals. Navarro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Angeleyis Medina De La Fuente was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.
Pioneer was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sacramento took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 57-29 win over Rodriguez. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Pioneer better keep an eye on La Ne Dunn. She was instrumental in Sacramento's win, almost dropping a triple-double with 25 points, 16 rebounds, and nine steals. Dunn has become a key player for Sacramento: the team is 15-1 when she posts at least 20 points, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Lake, who put up five points and seven boards.
Pioneer's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points over those games. As for Sacramento, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pioneer has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sacramento struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Pioneer didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sacramento in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 53-48 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Dunn, who dropped a triple-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Pioneer still be able to contain Dunn? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
