The Rincon/University Rangers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Tucson High Magnet School, falling 83-50. Rincon/University was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-19.
Despite the loss, Rincon/University still got an impressive performance from Abel Munoz-McDaniels, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam O'Dowd, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Among those leading the charge was Adam Bernal, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Julio Marquez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Rincon/University has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Tucson High Magnet School, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rincon/University will take on Marana at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marana is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Tucson High Magnet School is ranked 25th).
