Tri-Metro - West recap Sept. 26, 2012
DeLaSalle was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating St. Paul Academy-Summit/Mounds Park Academy 61-10. The Islanders came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 44 last week.
Blake moved up to 177 from 216 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-Metro - West. A 27-17 win over the Bears helped the Bears improve their standing.
The Spartans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Michael O'Shea threw for 84 yards and Karl Hommeyer had 45 yards receiving. On the ground David Ristau chipped in 54 yards. Luke Bishop helped St. Paul Academy-Summit/Mounds Park Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 20 yards.
St. Paul Academy-Summit/Mounds Park Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. O'Shea has thrown for 355 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Nick Hoffmann has 12 catches for 150 yards. Ristau leads the league in rushing with 224 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place DeLaSalle takes on second place Providence Academy. Last week, DeLaSalle defeated St. Paul Academy-Summit/Mounds Park Academy, while Providence Academy beat Blake.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Sean Mcmenomy's team takes on the Lions. The Islanders have allowed 58 points this season, while Providence Academy has given up 82. DeLaSalle allowed 10 points last week as it beat Ed Perrault's team.
The Islanders led Tri-Metro - West in scoring this week after putting up 61 points on the Spartans.
