Greater Latrobe has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Penn-Trafford Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greater Latrobe has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Thomas Jefferson scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Greater Latrobe still came out on top. Greater Latrobe took their matchup against Thomas Jefferson 65-56.
Meanwhile, Penn-Trafford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 51-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKeesport. While losing is never fun, Penn-Trafford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while McKeesport is ranked 22nd).
Despite the defeat, Penn-Trafford had strong showings from Lauren Marton, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks, and Olivia Pepple, who scored eight points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that Pepple posted two or more blocks.
Penn-Trafford struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Greater Latrobe's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Penn-Trafford, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Greater Latrobe came up short against Penn-Trafford in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 51-45. Can Greater Latrobe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
