It's playoff time, and Menlo-Atherton had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Pioneer Mustangs on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Wes Peterson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ryder Kelly was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Roberts, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
Menlo-Atherton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.
