La Sierra came out on top against Rubidoux on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Eagles blew past the Falcons 12-2. Considering the Eagles have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Ramona and Patriot had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Matthew Engelking made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Hurtado, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Avina, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Ramona's win bumped their record up to 18-7. As for La Sierra, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14-2.
