The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 52-37 bruising from Mater Dei Catholic. Academy of Our Lady of Peace lost against Mater Dei Catholic in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 70-44 score last time.
Despite the loss, Academy of Our Lady of Peace saw an underclassman step up: Sydney Thomas scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was Thomas' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Gehler, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Valentina Aranalde was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored ten points along with four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Otilia Sua was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Mater Dei Catholic, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace will be playing at home against Olympian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 227 points over their last three contests. As for Mater Dei Catholic, they will take on Oceanside at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
