Bishop Rosecrans and Berne Union are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Bishops will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bishop Rosecrans 3.3, Berne Union 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Bishop Rosecrans got the win against Miller by a conclusive 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Bishops, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Coen Grandstaff and Jacobie Balo did most of the damage at the plate: Grandstaff went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Balo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Balo has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Hayden Perdue, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Bishop Rosecrans was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Berne Union fell victim to Lancaster and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Golden Gales. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rockets, who until this matchup were averaging 3.2 runs allowed.
Bishop Rosecrans has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Berne Union, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
Both Bishop Rosecrans and Berne Union just can't seem to miss. The Bishops have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Berne Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
