Towanda is 8-2 against the Wildcats since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Towanda Black Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Athens Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-4, which was the final score in Towanda's tilt against the Spartans on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Towanda has scored all season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Athens, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to the Trojans on Friday. While losing is never fun, Athens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Trojans are ranked 167th).
Towanda now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Athens, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.
Towanda came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 38-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Towanda since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
