Fallbrook is 6-1 against the Sundevils since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Fallbrook Warriors will be playing at home against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Fallbrook's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Fallbrook gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by Valley Center on the road to the tune of 59-20. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-4.
Fallbrook found their leader in underclassman Grace Nordeen, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Nordeen is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Nordeen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 62-47 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 869th, while the Tigers are ranked 228th).
Despite the defeat, Mt. Carmel had strong showings from Grace Weede, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Kaelyn Nason, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nason has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mattea Castro, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Fallbrook pushed their record up to 19-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 8-18.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's contest: Fallbrook have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Mt. Carmel, though, as they've only made 25% of their threes this season. Given Fallbrook's sizable advantage in that area, the Sundevils will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Fallbrook against the Sundevils when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 69-29 victory. With Fallbrook ahead 35-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.
