Dru Pearson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Pearson is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season.
In other pitching news, Kaylea Myers looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Mid-Buchanan got a massive performance out of Ella Christie, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those two hits gave Christie a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Schwope, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Mid-Buchanan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Mid-Buchanan pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Penney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Coming up, Mid-Buchanan will square off against Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Penney, they will welcome South Harrison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
