The Freeport Yellowjackets will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions at 6:30 p.m. Freeport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 477th, while Greensburg Salem is ranked 100th).
Freeport fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Derry by a score of 52-39 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Greensburg Salem came up short against Highlands on Thursday and fell 54-47. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greensburg Salem in their matchups with Highlands: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Greensburg Salem had strong showings from Blessing Gantt, who scored 15 points, and Kaitlyn Mankins, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gantt has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gia Rosensteel, who scored 12 points.
Freeport's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Greensburg Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.
