Baseball Recap: Linden's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Linden entered their tilt with Summerville on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Bears. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly six runs.

Matthew Schallberger made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Schallberger wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Rickets, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Brody Black was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Linden's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Summerville, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-10-1.

Coming up, Linden will face off against Riverbank at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Linden is facing Riverbank at the right time seeing as Riverbank is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Summerville, they will head out on the road to face off against Bret Harte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bret Harte will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
