Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Antelope Valley

Antelope Valley had won three straight games and Ariana Soil did her part to make it four on Saturday. The Antelope Valley Antelopes wrapped up 2024 with a 54-37 victory over the Bishop Union Broncos thanks in part to Soil, who posted 31 points. She has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more points the last 22 times she's played.

Bishop Union's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristin Allen, who put up 21 points. That was a full 56.8% of Bishop Union's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tannyr Ludwick, who had seven points and nine rebounds.

Antelope Valley's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Bishop Union, they moved to 9-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antelope Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lone Pine at 4:00 p.m. on January 7th. Antelope Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season. Bishop Union will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Rosamond at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th.
