The Barstow Aztecs will venture away from home to face off against the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Barstow's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Apple Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Barstow proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 17) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Hesperia Christian 5-3.

Robert Shipley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Aquan Brown and Trevor Shenk did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run, while Shenk went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Barstow is undefeated when Shenk posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Apple Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Palmdale by a score of 4-1 on Friday. The Sun Devils haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Dylan Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.
At the plate, Mikey Fonville was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Homer-Wayde Munson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Apple Valley, their record now sits at 5-3.
Barstow came out on top in a nail-biter against Apple Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Aztecs repeat their success, or do the Sun Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
