The Southwest Roughriders entered their tilt with the Cambridge Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Southwest walked away with a 35-22 win over Cambridge on Friday. The team accrued 28 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Southwest found their leader in underclassman Kyra Nelms, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryn Lampe, who scored six points along with four steals.
Southwest now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Cambridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wauneta-Palisade on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Wauneta-Palisade is ranked 142nd, while Southwest is ranked 120th). As for Cambridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Sutherland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
