The Higley Knights fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Canyon View Jaguars on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 67-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (56), Higley still had to take the loss.
Higley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Gloor, who scored 22 points along with 9 assists and 5 rebounds. Gloor scored a full 34.4% of Higley's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Dabney, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Higley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Canyon View, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Higley will head out on the road to face off against American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Dylan Novak and Dabney. Canyon View and Casteel will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Casteel's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
