The Livingston Wolves will challenge the Pacheco Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Livingston was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Johansen on Tuesday. Livingston put the hurt on Johansen with a sharp 49-29 victory. With the Wolves ahead 31-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Tatianna Alvarez had an outrageously good game as she went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 21 points. What's more, she also posted a 50% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024. Elizabeth Avila was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.
Livingston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pacheco). They came out on top against Grace Davis by a score of 75-67 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Livingston better keep an eye on Sasha Siemiller. She was instrumental in Pacheco's win, scoring 27 points and eight steals. The contest was Siemiller's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Mary Tava, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.
Livingston's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-14. As for Pacheco, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Livingston has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pacheco struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Livingston couldn't quite finish off Pacheco in their previous meeting back in January and fell 43-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Siemiller, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten steals. Now that Livingston knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
