The Encina Prep Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forest Lake Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Encina Prep in their matchups with Forest Lake Christian: they've now lost seven in a row.
Encina Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Tianna Davis and Maraia Rokosiga. Davis scored 12 points, while Rokosiga scored ten points.
Julia Nguyen continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Forest Lake Christian, dropping a triple-double on 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 steals. Nguyen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bree Wilson, who scored six points along with three steals.
Encina Prep bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Forest Lake Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Encina Prep will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Forest Lake Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Victory Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victory Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last 11 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
