Palmyra is 0-10 against the Knights since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Palmyra Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Elmwood-Murdock Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Palmyra has not done well against the Bulldogs recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Palmyra came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 46-39. The win was just what Palmyra needed coming off of a 53-30 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Elmwood-Murdock waltzed into their match on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They claimed a resounding 61-5 victory over Mead at home. Elmwood-Murdock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.
Elmwood-Murdock's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tatum Backemeyer, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Laney Frahm, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Frahm is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Mans, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Palmyra's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Elmwood-Murdock, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
Palmyra suffered a grim 53-30 defeat to the Knights in their previous matchup on Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Frahm, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
