Durham is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Winters is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Trojans will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Durham's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
On Friday, Durham made easy work of Paradise and carried off a 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
NOLAN RING made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
RING wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was KAYDEN PARSONS, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was BREVAN RING, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Winters unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 6-3 to East Nicolaus. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Spartans since Friday.
Aidan Baylor made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Beason, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Durham's win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Winters, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Durham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Winters struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Durham's way against Winters in their previous meeting back in March, as Durham made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
