University City is 3-0 against Kearny since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The University City Centurions will head out on the road to face off against the Kearny Komets at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (University City has three straight victories, Kearny has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, University City had just enough and edged Canyon Hills out 2-1.
University City was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Monet Rahimpour and
Mia Ramirez, who scored both of University City's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 34 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Kearny fell victim to Clairemont's stalwart defense back in January and couldn't make it onto the board. They suffered a tough 7-0 defeat at the hands of the Chieftains.
University City's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those six games. As for Kearny, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-2.
Everything went University City's way against Kearny when the teams last played back in January as University City made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for University City since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
