The Serra Cavaliers entered their tilt with the Galena Grizzlies with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Serra enjoyed a cozy 58-44 victory over Galena on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Serra's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 481st in California, while Galena is ranked 56th in Nevada).
Serra found their leader in underclassman Kaicia Snelson, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Snelson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaylah Holmes, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Galena's loss came despite strong showings from Ramona Peterson and Ava Wulforst. Peterson scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Wulforst scored seven points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Mia Turner was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Serra is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Galena, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
