The Agnes Irwin Owls lost against the Germantown Academy Patriots back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Agnes Irwin took a hard 71-52 fall against Germantown Academy. While losing is never fun, Agnes Irwin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Germantown Academy is ranked 13th).
When it comes to explaining why Agnes Irwin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Simone Harvey. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 38.5% of Agnes Irwin's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Milan Harvey was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Agnes Irwin has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Germantown Academy, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.
Agnes Irwin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-43 loss vs. Episcopal Academy on the 9th. Germantown Academy has also already played their next game, a 63-62 victory against William Penn Charter on the 9th.
