It was a good run, but the Colfax Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 64-43 walloping at the hands of Whitney. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Colfax has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Colfax lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaia Diederichs. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The match was Diederichs' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Laurlyn Massick, who scored seven points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Tylie Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds for Whitney. Marissa Shihadeh was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Colfax's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Whitney, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Colfax's road trip will continue as they head out to face Shasta at 5:30 p.m. on December 16th. One thing working in Shasta's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. Whitney won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vista del Lago at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. Vista del Lago is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
