Academy for Academic Excellence won against Lucerne Valley last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Mustangs. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Aiden Carmona and Gavin Ripley did most of the damage at the plate: Carmona scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Ripley scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Carmona has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Rudd, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Academy for Academic Excellence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.

The victory made it two in a row for Academy for Academic Excellence and bumps their season record up to 6-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Lucerne Valley, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy for Academic Excellence will head out to face off against Academy of Careers & Exploration at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagle will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lucerne Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lucerne Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy has averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
