The Calhoun Yellow Jackets will face off against the Heritage Generals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Calhoun couldn't beat Ridgeland on Thursday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the third inning. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 16-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), the Yellow Jackets still had to take the loss.
Calhoun got a massive performance out of Breanna Baker, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mori Henderson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Heritage waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Tigers 10-1. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Bailee Hollis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, Kinley Eason was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Brylee Pritchett was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Heritage hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive matchups.
Heritage's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Calhoun, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Calhoun came up short against Heritage in their previous meeting back in August, falling 9-5. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
