It was a good run, but the Davis Sr. Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin. Davis Sr. was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Franklin apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Davis Sr. lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tessa Schouten. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Schouten has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Izzy Cherry was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Leading Franklin to victory were Aletha Singleton and Tasiana Carr. Singleton scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Carr scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellyana Estacio, who scored six points.
Davis Sr.'s defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Davis Sr. will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Davis Sr. is coming into the matchup with six straight losses at home, meaning St. Francis will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. Franklin will take on Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin is coming into the match with eight straight wins at home, so Cosumnes Oaks is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
