The Silver Lake Mustangs will head out to square off against the Kenesaw Blue Devils on Friday. Silver Lake will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Silver Lake is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Gibbon: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Mustangs blew the Buffaloes out of the water with a 64-28 final score. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silver Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makenna Karr, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 16 boards. Karr is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Soucek, who went 6-for-14 on her way to 19 points and seven boards.
Silver Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Kenesaw was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 38-34 to Doniphan-Trumbull. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Silver Lake will have to keep a close watch on Sophia Schukei and McKinnley Kroos, a pair of players who had a big impact on Kenesaw's prior game. Schukei dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds, while Kroos shot 43% from the field to rack up 12 points and eight boards. That was a full 41.2% of Kenesaw's points, marking the third time in a row Schukei has posted more than a third of the team's points. Maggie Uden also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Kenesaw now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Silver Lake, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Silver Lake has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kenesaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 33.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Silver Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenesaw in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 45-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
