Basketball Recap: Hesperia Piles Up the Points Against Sultana

Hesperia won the last time they faced Sultana and things went their way on Monday too. The Hesperia Scorpions took their game with ease, bagging a 77-37 win over the Sultana Sultans. The Scorpions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Hesperia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Berlynn Miramontes, who posted 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Miramontes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Jocelyne Lerma was another key player, going 8 for 13 en route to 18 points.

Hesperia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups.

Jayonna Waller and Viviana Horta certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Waller went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points, while Horta went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points.

The victory got Hesperia back to even at 13-13. As for Sultana, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

Hesperia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-44 defeat against Oak Hills on the 5th. As for Sultana, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-34 loss against Apple Valley on the 5th.
