Baseball Recap: Palmdale Academy Charter School Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hoover, Palmdale Academy Charter School was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Victor Valley Christian Royals as they made off with a 21-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their one-run performance the game before.

Alessio Ruiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ruiz was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Derek Martinez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Isaac Torres was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Luis Ponce, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Palmdale Academy Charter School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Victor Valley Christian only posted an OBP of .429.

Palmdale Academy Charter School's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Victor Valley Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Palmdale Academy Charter School wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 23-2 win against Mojave on the 22nd. As for Victor Valley Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Academy for Academic Excellence on the 22nd.
