If the Morse Tigers were feeling good off their 55-26 takedown of the Christian Patriots last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Morse fell 65-56 to Cathedral Catholic on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (55), Morse still had to take the loss.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyla Palpallatoc, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deveney Gonzalez, who scored 13 points.
Morse has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season. As for Cathedral Catholic, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Morse's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mission Vista at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Mission Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 991st, while Morse is ranked 203rd). As for Cathedral Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Cathedral Catholic likes a good challenge.
