The Hilmar Yellowjackets lost against the Pacific Grove Breakers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Hilmar took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pacific Grove. Hilmar has struggled against Pacific Grove recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Hilmar had strong showings from Alicia Souza, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds, and Emma Gomes, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Souza's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Savannah Hardy continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pacific Grove, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Hardy has scored at least 25% of Pacific Grove's points. Jasmine Booker was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Hilmar's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-3. As for Pacific Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilmar is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Millennium is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Pacific Grove and Notre Dame will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Aveena Ducusin and Hardy.
