After losing to the Hesperia Scorpions the last time they met, the Burroughs Burros decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Burroughs strolled past Hesperia with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 57-40. The win made it back-to-back wins for Burroughs.
Despite the defeat, Hesperia had strong showings from Berlynn Miramontes, who scored 21 points along with four steals, and Chelsea Ortiz, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Miramontes scored a full 52.5% of Hesperia's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Burroughs' victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Hesperia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burroughs will face off against Oak Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Hills will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Hesperia, they will head out on the road to face off against Apple Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
