Baseball Recap: Lincoln Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

It was close, but on Tuesday the Lincoln Trojans sidestepped the Heritage Patriots for a 5-4 victory.

Joey Victor tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lincoln is 7-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Lincoln let Aiden Williams and Brady Dobson run wild. Williams scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Dobson went 1-for-3 with one home run. Lincoln is 6-1 when Williams posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will square off against Del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 4, the Golden Eagles 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Heritage, they are taking a road trip to challenge Deer Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
