The Lakewood Rangers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Valley Forge, posting a 74-29 victory on the road. Given Lakewood's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Valley Forge is ranked 734th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mikayla Hoang, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Patrick, who scored eight points.
Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Valley Forge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Rocky River is coming into the match with three straight victories at home, so Lakewood is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Valley Forge, they will head out on the road to take on Padua Franciscan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Padua Franciscan is facing Valley Forge at the right time seeing as Valley Forge is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
