Baseball Recap: Dublin Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Dublin lost to Washington County last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Everything went the Dublin Fighting Irish's way against the Washington County Golden Hawks as the Dublin Fighting Irish made off with a 9-2 win. The Fighting Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Landyn Horne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Tyrese Robinson was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Dublin is undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Jeff Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Dublin has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. Washington County's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dublin will square off against Jefferson County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Washington County, they will challenge Bleckley County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bleckley County's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Washington County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
