Higley won the last time they faced Queen Creek and things went their way on Friday too. The Higley Knights blew past the Queen Creek Bulldogs, posting a 70-27 victory. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.
Higley was led to victory by Cadence Murdough and Maci Kerns. Murdough dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Kerns went 8-for-16 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. That's the most points Kerns has posted since back in January of 2024. Ava Taliaferro also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Higley was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Queen Creek only posted three assists.
Despite the defeat, Queen Creek saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amaya Rodgers earned 19 points and five steals. Rodgers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jessenia Attson, who put up two points.
Higley's record now sits at 13-8. As for Queen Creek, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-17.
Higley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 84-47 win against Desert Ridge on the 4th. As for Queen Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-23 defeat against Highland on the 4th.
